What is Own the color?
Own the Color is a new experimental digital art community. Collect colors and create art.
Each color and its hexadecimal value has a corresponding NFT that you can acquire.
There is only 1 NFT per color.
We are currently using OpenSea Marketplace to handle transactions.
We recognize that NFTs, cryptocurrency, and the digital art community are rapidly evolving. This is an exciting time to launch a project such as this and we are learning a ton each day as we go on this journey. We are always open to any feedback the community has to offer. Thank you!
“What do I do with these colors?”
Constraints help creativity blossom.
You create any type of digital art (still or motion) using the colors that you own, but only those colors.
No other person will have the same color for as long as you hold the NFT. If you sell or transfer your NFT(s) to another artist, they may create work using your same color palette. This could potentially spark another form of collaboration between artists.
“Do I have to make art? Can I just hold the color?”

"I've never used Cryptocurrency before, how do I acquire one?"
One barrier of NFTs is that you need an Ethereum wallet to transfer ownership, but using the blockchain to transfer and verify ownership is a critical step in the NFT ecosystem.
For beginners completely starting from scratch, we recommend the following process:
Start an account on Coinbase to convert cash (fiat) to Ethereum (ETH)
Create a Coinbase Wallet (separate app on iOS) or one of the other recommended wallets on OpenSea. Transfer your ETH from your Coinbase account into this wallet.
You are now ready to acquire and save your collection!
Note: There are multiple ways to reach the same outcome of buying/acquiring crypto, so feel free to do your own research and choose an option that works best for you.

"I am trying to acquire a color, but what is gas and why is it so expensive?"
This is the unfortunate downside of the current NFT/Ethereum world.
In order to officially transfer ownership on the blockchain, the transaction requires gas to process. Gas is a transaction fee that fluctuates greatly depending on current Ethereum network demand. We do not receive any amount of this transaction fee.
"What EXACTLY is an NFT?"
“Do I actually own the color? Can I stop others from using a color?”
No. You cannot stop others from freely pursuing art.
Owning an Own the Color NFT is a piece of digital art that gives you rights to the color within the OTC universe.
In order for a piece of art to become OTC Certified (you get a fancy certificate and everything!), the creator must hold the piece's full color palette in Own the Color NFTs at the time of publishing and/or minting.
